Cubans Pay Homage to National Poet Nicolas Guillen

Camaguey, Cuba, Jul 10.- A workshop on the work of Cuban National Poet Nicolas Guillen is underway in this eastern Cuban city, where the outstanding poet was born 110 years ago. Cuban scholars will make presentations on the work of Guillen, including his journalistic style, his collection of letters and his poems in the context of the early 20th century.
Participants at the forum will also look at the poet’s relationship to other personalities of Cuban culture, such as renowned musician Alejandro Garcia Caturla and author Jose Antonio Ramos.
Videos prepared by the local TV center in Camaguey will also feature the figure of Guillen, who was the first president of the Cuban Association of Writers and Artists, after it was founded in 1961. (Radio Cadena Agramonte)
